So I’m at the awkward stage where my hair really needs done, but considering my colorist is happily ensconced on Madison Avenue, and I’m not, I want to extend these highlights for as long as possible.

My mousey roots are starting to peek through, so I turned to Color Wow’s blonde Root Cover Up powder in an effort to feel a little more polished.

The black compact contains a powder, which doesn’t look unlike a large eyeshadow as well as a double ended brush.

The brush has a large, squared off brush and a smaller, more rounded off one.

Once you’ve washed your hair, part it normally, and load up the brush with powder. I like to use the smaller end for the hair around my face, and gradually use the wider brush around the back. All you do is paint on stripes of colour, then I like to give it a little spritz of hair spray, then rough it up a little so it’s not too obvious looking.

The powder is super soft, and sticks to hair surprisingly easily. After I’ve sprayed it, it’s best not to touch it too much. Otherwise this is great if you’re looking to extend your colour a little longer. It doesn’t weigh down hair, and it doesn’t make it matte either – once applied my hair feels completely normal.

Color Wow is available in a variety of shades, and is priced at £29. It is available from Net-a-Porter.
